Auxiliary sound equipment

Auxiliary sound equipment used for programme design and broadcasting is composed of wireless microphones and wireless audio equipment, especially used for sound feedback and talkback links. They are mainly used by audiovisual and entertainment professionals and are an everyday work tool on television, on stage or in the music and film industries (news reports, political, cultural or sports events, game shows, etc.).

The use of frequencies by programme design and broadcasting auxiliary sound equipment in the following bands is not subject to individual authorisation, subject to compliance with the technical conditions indicated in the ARCEP decision. The bands in question are:

  • 174-223 MHz;
  • 1,785-1,800 MHz;
  • 470-789 MHz and 823-832 MHz

The use conditions for frequencies in the 174-223 MHz band are set out in ARCEP Decisions 2010-0849 and 2010-0850 of 2 September 2010.

The use conditions for frequencies in the 470-789 MHz, 823-832 MHz and 1,785-1,800 MHz bands are set out in two ARCEP decisions: Decision 2015-0830 of 2 July 2015, and Decision 2016-0272 and its annex  of 18 February 2016.
