One of the Agency's essential roles consists in checking the correct use of frequencies. It assigns many human and equipment resources to this activity.
To fulfil this mission, the ANFR is sometimes called on for “major events”, for which the Agency manages the radio spectrum scheduling and checks. These actions may result from requests from ministries and prefectures, but also from private companies on a contractual basis.
Major events, in particular sports events, result in the intensive temporary use of frequencies by the media, the organisers or security services.
For the Tour de France and the 14 July parade for example, the ANFR schedules the use of the frequencies and deals with any interferences found.
