The observatory in maps

Welcome to the Observatory's new interactive map. Using this map, you can view the deployment of mobile networks for all operators and all technologies: 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G.

The totals shown in bubbles on the map show the number of systems deployed by all the operators. A system is the implementation by an operator of a technology (2G, 3G, 4G or 5G) on a support in a given frequency band. The support on which the systems are deployed can be a building, a water tower or a pylon. This is where the technical equipment, transmitters and antennae of one or more operators are located, making it possible for users to access the mobile service (voice or internet) from a location near the support. For example, a support housing Orange 3G equipment in the 2100 MHz band and Orange and Bouygues Telecom 4G equipment in the 2100 GHz band hosts 3 systems: an Orange 3G system in the 2100 MHz band, an Orange 4G system in the 2100 MHz band and a Bouygues Telecom 4G system in the 2100 MHz band.

When the zoom level is sufficiently high, the totals disappear and are replaced by a representation of the supports as dots. Clicking on a dot then brings up an infotip detailing the system(s) hosted on the support in question. The same support can be used by several operators, for several different technologies and frequency bands.

Important: the supports shown on this map have been authorised by the ANFR. Some of them have not yet been commissioned and therefore do not currently provide mobile access. The map also shows the supports for 4G trials in the French overseas departments and territories.
